Editorial Reviews:

This is an entire toolbox in one well-priced package: just about everything you need for practically any job. We love these combo kits because you just can’t beat the price. A powerful DeWalt drill/driver, trim saw, recip saw, hardworking pivot light, one-hour charger and two batteries with a rugged case, and for roughly half what you’d pay if you bought the tools individually. Here’s what we think about what’s in the box:

You need power, but you don’t want to hoist a ton. Here’s the answer. DeWalt’s revamped 18-volt compact drill/driver delivers on both counts, with a 1/2-inch chuck that grips beefy bits, an 18-position adjustable clutch, and a high-performance motor for the torque you need, packaged in a truly lightweight, comfortable drill. The variable speed has a high and low range for any application, and the reverse switch is right above the curved trigger for easy access. We especially like the light weight, even more so because it doesn’t cost in the power department. The 18-volt trim saw is lightweight, compact and maneuvers grandly even in the tightest workspace. Don’t dismiss it just because it’s a 5-3/8-inch blade; it cuts a 2x4 in one pass and even offers up to a 50-degree bevel. The rip fence is sturdy for a nice, accurate cut, and blade changes are fast and easy because of the spindle lock. It’s got a no-load speed of 3,500 rpm, and even at 45 degrees, you’re getting a 1-1/8-inch depth of cut.

The reciprocating saw is just a blast, especially if you’re used to dragging a corded model around, into basements and up ladders. It’s plenty powerful, too, whether you’re cutting into wood or metal. We like the keyless clamp for quick, simple blade changes and the electric brake for the time it saves.

The flashlight’s wide-angle beam lights up your workspace, whether you’re up in the rafters or in the crawlspace. The head pivots a full 90 degrees, and the Xenon bulb illuminates with strong, bright white light. It’s got a decent enough run time of about three hours on a charged battery, and the bulb will last about 110 hours.

In all, this is a fantastic buy for the contractor or the ambitious do-it-yourselfer.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

User Comments about the DEWALT DC4CPKA 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit

I bought this combo kit for my husband who is a Carpenter by trade and he was absolutely thrilled with it. The batteries stay charged for along time and the size, convenience and portability are a bonus.

Great value--I was able to buy this set on sale for $200. However, that's such a minor point.and really the ONLY negative to this set.Least expensive way to get into the 18V DeWalt tool family. Yes, it's "old" battery tech, but for most of us that's fine. Good set, great price. One note--this flashlight doesn't fit the case well (the case was made for the "snake" light available in other sets).

This is a very nice set of 18V tools. That's about the only negative though. All tools are very nice.but watch for a sale on this (I was able to pick up the set for $200 at Home Depot--at that price, it's an amazing value). This is the best way to get into the 18V DeWalt family. Only downside is they don't fit in the case very well (the case is made for a "snake light" and the tools just don't fit properly).

DeWalt, the name says it. Awsome price here at Amazon for the best package deal around.

Amazon took it back, thankfully. The battery would not drop out of the tools, you had to pry it loose. Plastic and fit fit was awful. Motor brushes seemed to create excessive sparks, which to me mean short lived motors. They are great. Case tool slots seemed to be for different configuration of tools.
