Editorial Reviews:

The first battery-powered tape measure that extends and retracts with the push of a button, Black & Decker's Power Tape ATM100 lets you measure with one hand while you write, dial, scratch, hammer, or whatever, with the other. No more putting down the phone, calculator or handsaw just to take a quick measurement. The automatic tape measure also comes in handy when working in tight spaces where two arms won't fit. Confronted with tricky gluing applications where you just can't let go even for a second, the Power Tape has you covered there, too. Its ergonomic design feels great in the hand, and large forward and back buttons with arrows tell you in a glance which one extends and which one retracts the tape. Forgot to refresh the batteries? No problem! The Power Tape can be used as a manual tape measure, too. Four AAAA batteries included.

User Comments about the Black & Decker ATM100 25-Foot Auto Tape Measure

No spanking required, I trained my dog solely with this terrible tool. I can't say that I have ever measured anything with it but when I first extended it my dog ran as fast as she could and hid in the other room. Got this tool as a gift since my family knows I do construction. I thought something was wrong with her but it turns out the awful noise that this tape makes coming out really bothers her. I can honestly say that this is the wost tool ever invented, but I have used it for the last 2 years and now have a well trained, beautiful, loving boxer. So whenever she did something she is not supposed to I either get the tape out to scold her or just threaten that she is going to "get the tape".

I've owned one of these for quite a number of years and recently purchased another to give my son who recently purchased a new home.Being able to be at one spot and with the push of a lever send the end of the tape to another spot without getting up off the floor to try and hook it to something saves you a lot of time, when working on a project. It does weight a lot more then an ordinary tape measure,so it isn't something you would want to carry around on your belt all day.Other then that it is one great tool to help get that job done quicker. In a upright position, the tape itself will stay stiff out to a certain point like the manufacturer saids.I'd give this a thumbs up.

If you are using it as a primary tape, such as a construction job, it wouldn't last half a day on a set of batteries. Kind of what my wife would say about me and my projects, haha. So, depending upon what use you are purchasing it for, I have rated it right smack in the middle. Does the Job. The idea for this tape is a good one, and I find that is does come in handy when you are by yourself for taking measurements.

The MAJOR DRAWBACK for me that really upsets me is that with all of the ADVERTISING that BLACK & DECKER has done for this product, they have failed to mention that BATTERIES DON'T LAST VERY LONG AT ALL. Thus, it isn't what I would recommend for a carpenter for work. Just No Staying Power. I would really hope that in the future B&D will solve the short battery life, then it would be really great. However, one of the draw backs is that it become's heavy within a short period of time, and to try and wear it on your belt isn't practical.

For a handyman around the house for "small" projects it would work great. I do not feel that it was a waste of my money. Great Idea.

Not a serious tool for a contractor or weekend warrior. Motor drive extends tape but does not retract. This is another B&D blunder. Battery door ill fitting. Get a laser measure instead. Can see it falling out at any moment.

Worthless. What else can I really say. This is an overpriced paperweight. It is overweight, flimsy and there is no purpose to the motor drive. If they were free, I still would pay for a real tape measure instead.
