These templates were a great help in keeping inside corner and outside corner miter cuts correct. One negative is that the templates would be more useful if they were larger (5"-6")
Better yet they could have embossed it into the templates so unlike the labels you would not have to worry about them fading away or coming off (which would also save the company the cost of labels). They are a great reference before you cut expensive trim to confirm that your miter saw is set to the correct angle/tilt. I suppose you could easily make a set yourself, but these are inexpensive and virtually unbreakable. I did deduct 1 star because they come with large print labels that you place on the templates yourself, which provides the opportunity for them to get placed on the wrong template. All-in-all worth the purchase despite this minor shortcoming If they were already affixed it would avoid the possibility for this mistake to happen.
I guess this product is OK if you don't mind spending money and don't want to take a few minutes time to make your own templates. I made my own templates out of scrap the first time I did crown molding. Cutting crown isn't difficult with a crown jig like the one Bench Dog makes, but it's still easy to make a wrong cut because you're cutting "upside down and backwards". Templates definitely help prevent mistakes.
A must for cutting Crown. The templates are great, they definitly have saved me money on cutting mistakes. I would set the saw up put the template in the saw and see it was set up wrong for the cut I wanted. Thanks Eric Thompson They are A-1 in my book.
this product was purchased for my son to use. Hopefully once he has practiced with it enough I will see the benefits. I received it one day and he picked it up at my home the next.
