This tool does not feel good in your hand. We traded and both agreed the Gerber Freehand feels and looks better. I don't like it.It feels cheap. My friend bought the Gerber tool.
Great tool for any type of work and very light to carry around. I loved all the different options and all the stuff that it can do.
My last purchase of this type tool was in the late 1990's and was a Buck Tool. As a contractor in Histotical Preservation and conservation, I put my multitool to hard and constant use. I really like the screw driver set-up and the extra bits. I choose the Wave because it serves my needs and it addresses the wear and tear issues of the unit I had. Leatherman 830040 New Wave Multi-Tool with Nylon Sheath I have carried and used multitool for many years. Only in the last couple of years did wear begin to take its toll. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and look forward to years of use. For more than a year I looked at new units.
A cheap knife would have done better. Great convenience in a small package. The one problem is that the temper on the blade is not great. It resharpened, but that is not the objective. I used the blade to remove some stapes and I got big nicks in the blade.
Not only is this a well made tool, but this is the only Leatherman that has the exact mix of tools I want. I have owned (darn TSA and my forgetfulness) other Leatherman products, and while they have all been very well built, none had this mix of tools, it is perfect and I am buying another two right now, one for my wife and a spare for me. I carry mine with me all the time and have found it very useful.
