This jig saw does what it's asked to do with no complaints. What a difference. The true test will be its longevity but from the workout I have given it so far I am confident that this is one rugged and reliable tool. It's everything that a carpenter could ask for and it has a wonderfully long cord to boot. After having a Dewalt DW331k break on me three times I gave up and got the Bosch 1590EVSK. The blade changing system is pretty much fool proof and the bevel adjustment is smooth, quick, and easy. Goodbye Dewalt; no more junk for me. The weight of the machine removes vibration and the variable speed motor is infinitely adjustable and sensitive to finger pressure.
Been wanting one of these for several years. Could have been enjoying it for years. Finally broke down and bought one. Wish I would have done this when I first thought about it.
I was AMAZED from the moment I made the first cut with the Bosch. I would highly recommend this jigsaw to anyone considering it. WHAT a DIFFERENCE. I had a 30-year old Craftsman jigsaw that didn't have orbital action, and I hardly used it because I had to push hard on it all the way through a cut, ruining many blades in the process. I'm planning on demonstrating it side by side with my ancient Craftsman for our woodworking club.
My first project with the Bosch was some leaf cutouts in 2-inch treated lumber for deck railing decoration. It went through that lumber like a hot knife through butter, and the sides of the cuts in the thick lumber were perfectly perpendicular to the surfaces. What I had expected to be a real chore was a joy. I finished the six cutouts in just a couple of hours, when I was expecting it to take a couple of days.
I returned the saw and bought a new one, and it is the same story. I bought this saw because of all the great reviews. I have to say, I love this saw. Has anyone else had a problem with the orbital motion on this saw. The only thing is, the orbital motion doesn't seem to work, whatsoever.
Look for Bosch products made in Germany and you should be fine. Bosch put a lot of thought into refining an already excellent jigsaw. The greatest innovation was quick change blade system and the quick change angle setter is a nice feature, too, although I hope it holds up. As with this jigsaw, unless you are ready to fork out $440 for the Festool, this is the best jigsaw out there. With Bosch, always look at the point of manufacture as I purchased three of their router plunge kits (made in Asia), and ALL of them have had to have their switches replaced.
