has "bayonet" style blades - they are very difficult to find, and IMPOSSIBLE to find locally. The ease of removing and re-inserting the blade is almost unbelieveable. I've owned a couple other jig/scroll saws. Practically vibration free, the easiest to set up, and the finest blades available are made by Bosch.Don't even screw around with the others. It is still a very fine saw, however that brand (P.C). You can purchase an optional rip guide, which I will be buying. Not the "bayonet" style though.I cannot be on a job site and need a blade, for which there is no local supplier.All that said, this is now the *BEST* jig saw I have ever owned.
The one prior to this, I *thought* was the best. It seems you can go anywhere and buy the traditional "universal" or "T" shank blades such as Bosch uses. Buy this one and be done with it. It is a bit heavier that the previous saws, but it is the BEST.
Make sure you read all instructions. Although I have only used the saw a couple of times, I am very satisfied with its quality and performance. It is built very well and has numerous features. Some features are not self evident. I have been doing woodworking for about 38 years and this is one of the best saws I have seen.
I was really impressed with all of the features that came with this Jigsaw. Changing blades takes only a few seconds, and all of the other settings can be changed without unscrewing anything.Mainly I was looking for the build quality, and this thing feels very solid. It could do everything I needed it to do and then some. Also, it was very easy to use.
To me, it is a little cumbersome. and, hands down, it is one of the best tool purchases I have ever made. I cut through two thicknesses of treated two by twelves (glued together) for an arbor and it truly shocked me at how easily it went through it. Which, translates into four stars rather than five.Other than that.this saw, to me, was well worth the investment. I bought it after attending a "Woodworking show" and they had it on display, turned on, sitting on the table and it just sat there, did not move.The only downside, and that would not stop me from buying another, is the method of blade removal and or change.
The quick change replacement feature for the blade works great. I have always gone by the motto, if you want a job done right, you need to have the right tools. I did a lot of research before I purchased this jig saw and most of the reviews ranked it one of the best. I definitely believe that this saw falls into that category. The only reason I ranked this saw a 4 and not a 5 was because it is a bit on the expensive side. I cut a couple of wholes in the sides of kitchen cabinets and they turned out straight and smooth.
