It was easy to install and worked right out of the box. On any other radio I own there are a dozen stations that come in very clear. I live in the San Antonio area and can only pick up one station with enough clarity to record. The Radio Shark is almost a good product. The software has a few minor glitches that are annoying but not fatal. Fornutaly for me the one station I can recieve is the one I wanted to record so the product is working for me. The fatal flaw in this product is the radio reciever itself.
The manufacturer sells an extra antenna, but the reviews are not good. (Note: I bought it for recording sports on AM; I did not have a reason to try the FM. Avoid this product, of course, and if this one is so bad, probably any others by this company. In comparison with radios located at the identical spot in my house, this radio gets truly awful AM reception. My Radioshark was non-returnable. But generally FM antennas need to be bigger than AM, and the AM doesn't work, so.). So I threw it away as useless.
I almost didn't buy it because of these bad reception reviews. TiVo for Radio. I'm glad I did. I now listen to my favorite talk shows when I have time to listen to them and I skip the commercials.
Unfortunately Radio Shark has problems picking up only but the strongest signals. The interface needs some work as well. They do not provide hookup for external antenna either that could improve some station reception slightly. Even in the open, it picks up very few stations.
Yes, at first I was having reception problems but as I read here and elsewhere either get an antenna or (the free way), simply plug in those earbuds (had a junkie pair in the drawer), into the 1/8" antenna jack and viola, I had great reception.Got this at an incredible "used and new" price here too.was too cheap not to buy myself a little Xmas present.Cheers.
