operating pressure. Guess what. Number one, this is the first QUIET compressor I have ever owned. You've got one seized compressor. It takes very little time to get up to 120 lbs. That oil will go somewhere and you can't replace it. This is a GOOD thing.
I have yet to run power tools off of it, but so far operating my hydraulic lift and airing up the tires it is performing very well. It has it own air filter and separate oil supply. If I were in the trades and needed a compressor all the time, I would probably buy a gas motor compressor but for occasional light to medium tool use, operating a lift and inflation duties, this is a really good compressor. The el cheapo compressors that don't require oil are a disaster waiting to happen.
Even after reading everyone's helpful reviews, some of which mentioned shipping damage,I decided to roll the dice and order this compressor.I am happy to report that it arrived in fine shape. Judging from descriptions of packaging problems others have given,I'm guessing that Makita has improved their "boxing".The air filter cover was held safely in place by a piece of cardboard, and everything else was fine. Thanks to all of you that took the time to review.
It's much, much quieter than the pancake. This compressor is solidly built and relatively quiet. Would buy it again. I've had it for a couple of weeks and it has been great -- no problem with a framing nailer. Bought the Makita MAC2400 compressor after my Campbell Hausfield pancake compressor stopped working. There's a lot of steel and almost no plastic on this product -- that's rare these days. It's heavy -- you definitely wouldn't want to carry this around on a daily basis.
I love it. Mine arrived perfect. I had been hessitant to buy this product because some of the reveiwers indicated theirs having been delivered damaged. 100%.Oil in the crankcase pluged it in. Its fast and quiet. Worked like a charm.
My Mac2400 arrived without a scratch. This Makita screams quality (albeit quietly).now I just need to actually use it, although I'm sure this machine will perform. Filled her with oil, screwed in the air filter and turned her on for the 30 minute break-in period.WOW.soooo quiet, I still can't believe it. I can understand just how quiet the Mac2400 is as I used to use an oilless pancake type which recently died on me in the middle of a job, what a difference.
