These batteries are very useful for a small variety of Black and Decker-compatible products. Their capacity is noticeably greater than the similar "silver" (standard) battery.
The battery is used in a B&D StormlightThe old battery would work for less than a minute prior to going totally dead. This one lasts about 2 minutes.The date code is 200929 Repreated charge/discharge cycles do not help.
We ordered two of these batteries as replacements for silver batteries that we had been using and recharging for years in our Dustbuster 7.2v. In spite of repeated attempts to charge the batteries, both in the Dustbuster and in the external charger, on only one occasion did the Dustbuster function for more than 5-10 seconds. We charged these new gold batteries for at least 24 hours before using them, but they still drained within only a few seconds -- fewer than 10 seconds.
Now my screwdriver works again. It was a very good value (cheaper than other websites and the shipping was FREE) and received it in record time. So happy to find this Black & Decker VersaPak VP110 replacement battery on Amazon. It is actually a better battery than the one I had which was the silver one. Thanks Amazon. Luckily they were interchangeable.
I have been using the Versa-pak powered tools for years, and though they are underpowered by todays's standards, they still do the job. I recommend the gold over the standard, they give you a longer time between charges. These packs are expensive, but they are well made and long lasting, and if you want to continue to use the B&D tools, you have to have them.
