I was little skeptical about its noise which I read in some reviews but honestly, I did not even notice it. I bought this product for our trip to Florida. Product worked great everytime we used it. Take my advice, buy it and enjoy the product, its worth it. It charged my kids Nintendo DS, our Laptop and Video Camera multiple times without any issue.
I simply had to replace a similar product that has worn out. This is an inexpensive and useful way to keep various units playing or charged in a vehicle without having to purchase a separate car charger for each.
Not sure what caused it to happen suddenly, but we notice she's not getting power anymore and all of the power outlets in the car won't work. My wife was thrilled to be able to surf the web while I drove on a recent road trip. Like a lot of folks, you assume the best when a product is as highly rated as this one. She was on her 13" Macbook and plugged into the power outlet of a 2009 Audi Q5. I can only assume it was drawing too much power.I'd still love to be able to power our Macs in the car if anyone has a suggestion. Everything worked great for maybe 5 minutes.
Works as described with my laptop. Its plug n play and very convenient for me. The fan is audible but not really noticeable if watching movies, listening to music, and/or driving. To me this was the best option for a power inverter because it small enough to pack around or store in the glove box, no wires, no need to hook up to car battery.
I even tried the inverter again and had to pull it as smoke began to pour out of it. Started with my first contact with them on 11/11. Still nothing. I read a lot of the reviews before purchasing and thought that this looked like a pretty good deal. I contacted Amazon and was told I would have to contact Xantrex for help since it was past their thirty day return policy. Fair enough. I supplied the required material on three different occasions (as well as telling them about the smoke) and finally let them know I would be contacting Amazon about their poor response. I suspect that they'll probably get around to answering around January 15th to tell me I'm too late, as the warranty expires on the 14th.
Worked great for the few times we traveled, but stopped working in November. Took until the 26th to get an answer after two more emails. I will not be buying from this company again, and would definitely not encourage anybody else to buy their products. Said they needed serial # and proof of purchase to start an RMA.
