Editorial Reviews:

Milwaukee's 8-inch metal cutting circular saw (models 6370-20 and 6370-21) delivers faster, cooler, cleaner, more affordable metal cutting. Forget the showers of hot metal chips and sparks that were once an aerial threat on metal construction jobsites. The 6370 shears the metal, producing a virtually spark-free wake and cool, burr and scorch-free edges that don't require post-cut finishing. Cool cut waste, in the form of metal shavings, is effectively contained with a durable magnesium blade shield and channeled into the saw's integral ChipTank. Cool cutting also means that materials can be handled almost immediately following a cut, reducing downtime. Driven by a powerful, 13 amp (1-3/4 max HP), 3,700 RPM motor and equipped with a full grill of razor-sharp, cermet-tip teeth, the 6370 tears through tough cuts without hesitation. Count on up to 10 gauge sheets and 1/4-inch steel plate cuts, all day, every day. More extreme cuts, even up to 3/4-inch steel plate, are possible when proper operating techniques are used. Any way you slice it, cold cutting metal means value. Internal test results indicate that our new metal cutting blades last a minimum of 25 times a standard abrasive wheel. Specially-formulated cermet tip metallurgy and tooth geometry ensure these incredible blades cut faster, stay sharp longer, and resist more impacts for a significantly lower cost per cut ($0.20 versus $0.60). To keep on target, the new 6370 features a set of on-board sight-line and blade point-of-entry indicators along with a slot in the saw's shoe for a rip fence. It is also the first and only corded metal cutting saw to feature a lower guard retraction lever. Plunge cuts are fast and furious with this exciting new tool. The lever's location ensures that the user has both hands firmly on the saw throughout the cut. The 6370-21 includes the 8-inch Metal Cutting Saw, Metal Cutting Blade (48-40-4515), Hex Blade Wrench and Impact Resistant Carrying Case.

User Comments about the Milwaukee 6370-21 13 Amp 8-Inch Metal Cutting Circular Saw

Works really nice for cutting light metal. Haven't used a lot so I not know about longevity. No distortion to materials.

The usual high quality milwaukee is known for. definately an asset to your tool arsenal. It will cut up to 3/4 of an inch if used correctly. The saw is an outstanding piece of equipment. If you are cutting 1/4 of below it will go all day. Keep in mind as with all tools stay within the tools proper uses & you will be very satisfied. With thicker metal (above 1/4 inch) you need to follow the directions not to push the saw beyond its limits.

This saw does with metal like a circular saw with plywood. From steel to aluminum, you can set your plasma cutter in storage. It blew me away with its cutting ability.

Ordered the saw and had it in two days cut the metal roofing and 10 foot of 1/8 inch steel for a bench top then some 5/16 aluminum with no blade change or time lose. Straight and cool to handle with no mess fine tool.

It took at least an hour to make the cuts.I realized that the jigsaw method was a false economy.I sprang for the Milwaukee 6370-21 circular metal saw kit.No lie. That was going to get very expensive.I decided to buy jigsaw blades ($12 worth) to attack the job myself. The saw seriously ripped through the metal. I can't address any cons because I have only had it a few days.

Always a requirement of a tool purchase to me is how quickly it will pay for itself in productivity. Obviously you have to judge any tool by your usage needs. That's a big savings at the steel yard. I am a metal worker by hobbie.I needed to cut several squares out of 1/4 plate steel.I was looking at having them sheared by the steel company for $20 cutting charge per square. Went through the 8 blades for 2 squares. I cut the same squares out in 5 minutes. I am confident that this tool will do that quickly.

If you are looking to accurately mitre a lot of steel cuts, you might want to get a cold cut mitre chop saw with the same blade technology as this saw. I set up a guide and cut them. It did a better/cleaner cut than the jigsaw.I give the saw a 5 rating right now. Any portable hand held saw has it's accuracy liablities, you have to choose the right tool for the job at hand.Good luck It worked fantastically for my purposes in the short term, with no signs of future problems.I can now begin to incorporate more plate steel into my work without concern as to my ability to cut it to size.
