User Comments about the Shop Fox D2058 Adjustable Extra Heavy-duty Mobile Base

Just junk manufacturing and materials.Stuck with the damn thing now. The quality of the Shop Fox D2058 mobile base has gone down since the last mobile base I purchased 10 years ago (smaller but same design).I had to run a tap (12x1.5 mm)into the threaded holes for the jackscrews used to lock the unit into place, they were so badly machined, that they would have damaged the threads on the screws. For a woodworker without metric taps, this is not good. And like the others, the machine installed on this base takes so much force to move. Should have researched more, but could not imagine they would value engineer all the quality out of what used to be very good products.Woodstock International needs to rethink this, but best would be to see them out of business. Also assembly manual is generic to all mobile bases, and had assembly locking nuts that were not required for this base. The wheels are cast iron, not rubber so there's no reason for this effort.

Only two wheels would turn and the others just froze up and would not move beyond a certian piont. They also do not turn all the way around. I bought a 25 year old Powermatic 66 Table saw and got this on a whim to get the saw out of my van and into the garage. The back of them catches on the frame. Once assembled and saw loaded it sagged in the middle. The wheels froze and would not move. I ended up just adding some nice locking wheels to the bottom of my saw and put this thing away thinking the saw was just beyond its capacity. Then last week I bought a 6" jet jointer and thought I would give it a try on something lighter.

It was a complete waste of time and money. Also the rubber pads on the bottom of the stops came off. Very poor design.Going to gets some wheels for my jointer and sell this piece of junk on craigs list. Well, the same thing happened.

I only wish I had read the previous reviews before I bought this base. Also, as mentioned the metal is thin and poorly fitted and the bolts are cheap pot metal and strip easily. This base is not suitable for any application I can envision. Grizzly should drop the "Super" and "Heavy" from the title. I have a low-end Delta table saw on mine (less than 200 pounds) and the cheap plastic caster wheels disintegrated after just a few months use.

Grizzly really blew it on this one.Would HIGHLY recommend the Delta 50-345 Universal Mobile Base that I used as a replacement. Absolutely the worst mobile base I've ever seen. Typical made in China garbage. SM-O-O-O-TH RUNNING UNIT. I tried to use the base with a 14" bandsaw and the casters were of such poor quality that they wouldn't even role.

This item is rated to over 1300 lbs. machine on it the wheels will barely turn on a concrete surface.Steve With a 650 lb.
