This is a great product to have when all else fails. I tried vice grips but they kept slipping. I had a severely rounded bolt on my cars oil pan drain. I ordered the Bolt-Grip Extractor set to see if it would work. I highly recommend it. Upon receipt, I selected the appropriate size, tapped it onto the bolt, placed a socket wrench drive on it, and it easily removed the completely rounded off bolt.
I tried everything in my tool box to remove a boogered bolt head. Don't even think twice about getting yourself a set. They are made from quality materials, are heavy-duty and they work. These things are the greatest. The Irwin bolt extractor had it out in seconds. Just order 'em. I just fit the proper size extractor socket over the rounded bolt head, gave it a yank and the bolt was loose -- didn't even slip at all.
The item seems fine but the plastic was filthy and a clearance sticker was clearly scratched off
It should come as no surprise that I bought the larger expansion set--there is room in the box specifically set aside for the expension set. I bought this product to have "just in case." Well last week, it got it's first use: bolt holding caliper bracket to hub broke off. I really needed the shaft out or no car. Thank You Irwin. I heated up the end of the bolt, hammered on the tightest fitting bolt grip piece, and used my impact wrench to back it out.
This is a great bolt remover set. Having a screw gun helps. It helps to remove those stubborn bolts that have been stripped. It is simple to use and doesn't take up much space.
