The dust collector is not very good and comes of easily. This variable speed sander puts my old twenty year belt sander to shame. The smaller sanding spindle provides a more flat surface for sanding. Otherwise this is a great tool. The sanding stand provides an imprompto stationary sander for jobs that requires sanding perpendicular to a surface without buying another tool.
So they knew of the problem. This was not disclosed by Dewalt in anything I reviewed before I purchased it. I am disappointed that the dust collection system that is a big deal according to Dewalt will not fit on the sander if it is on the frame. This is just bad engineering. Why didn't they just design the frame to work with the dust collection system. The instructions with the frame acknowledge the fact and tell you to turn off the dust collection lever when it is on the frame.
I bought this sanding frame a couple of months ago and have used it several times, and am quite pleased with it. I am a beginner at woodworking and sometimes my sander would dig into the workpiece, but with this frame it makes it a little easier to use and control the sander.
I have not used it very much but it has been handy the few times that I have.
This frame is easy to use and makes into a stationary belt sander fast. It also works vertical and horzional making two machines out of one.
