We have several plug in vacs already. I bought this based on its claim that it worked on 12 to 18 volt batteries.I have a bunch of 14.4 tools that all work fine. When I inserted a fully charged 14.4 battery it ran so slow that I thought it wasn't running at all.Tried another fully charged battery and the same thing. I returned it the next day for full refund, which is a big reason to use Amazon in the first place - no hassel returns. I did plug it in and it worked fine that way but that's not what I wanted.
When used within it's scope of operations it is a more than welcome addition to my shop. The hose fits right into the dust port on my miter saw and I use it on AC power and have it on an auto-switch so it comes on whenever I fire up the saw, perfect as the Vacuum happens to sit right next to the saw when not needed elsewhere and as happens a lot, I have a quick cut or two that would not be worth the trouble to spend five minutes to drag in the Shop Vacuum for 30 seconds of work.I stick a fresh battery in it and tote it to any project site in the house that is going to produce something needing a vacuum, super easy, way better than hauling out a big vac for a small job.You have to keep the filter clean and the tub dumped as it is a small machine so can get full/plugged up in a hurry with some materials. I have had this vac for over five years and hardly a day goes by in the shop that I don't use it. This is just routine maintenance, treat your tools well they will treat you well. I recommend this unit to anyone understanding what it is, and why they would want it. This unit will not replace a Shop Vac nor is it meant to.
Well made2. back it went. in between running your kids to soccer practice, finish the laundry, cut the grass, and go shopping for the week. This is an excellent shop vac for the average homeowner. If you're a hardcore woodworker, then you may need a larger vac, one that can pick up 20 pounds of sawdust. Small size fits small places3. As I tore out the old floor and replaced the new one, this wet/dry vac worked quite well allowing me to clean up as I went along. In the past few weeks, I've used this vac to (1) clean up my workbench in the garage; (2) clean out my car; (2) clean under a small set of stairs in order to fix them; (3) clean the lint out of our dryer.
The parts fit together quite nicely. The filter is washable, so you won't have to pay for replacements as much (so you'll save money there).I bought this vac recently when my wife and I decided to fix the floor in our small bathroom and replace the toilet. My most significant complaint would be that the power cord and the hose are a bit too short. Another few feet on both would be quite nice.2. Washable filterCON's1. Some of the previous reviewers have been a little harsh on this unit. then this is probably the wet/dry vac for you. While this device is a bit pricey, it appears to be very well made.
First I bought a $29.95 small wet/dry vac. or 40 gallons of water. and several other small tasks.PRO's1. This vac won't do that. But it you're an average homeowner who is trying to remodel a bathroom or kitchen (to save money). I got it home, took it out of the box, and it looked so cheap. A bit pricey.Overall, I would highly recommend this high quality device. I wanted a small vac (as the bathroom is small), so I bit the bullet and bought this unit.It worked quite well.
I use the Dewalt dc500 for servicing computer systems. It is versatile and compact enough for the job.
Seems well built, I love having the battery and pug in option. I think I would either try the new smaller unit for battery use or buy a better portable plug in unit. The vacuum is very handy, but really lacks in power and effectiveness.
