I thought "What a great idea". The great thing about Amazon is you can send stuff back, which I promptly did.My advice is wait until one of the major manufacturers comes out with a similar item. Looking at the style & quality these must be made by the same people. I recently purchased this item from Amazon. However, when it arrived I opened the box pulled on the plastic end of the jack and it came away in my hand leaving the rest of the jack inside the box The manufacturer had omited to put a screw in to secure it.As for the overall quality: The plastic is the cheap junk that will break when any pressure is applied. You will pay more for it but nothing is more frustrating than tools that break on the job. I was stupid enough to buy some clamps through ebay only to have the handles break after a couple of squeezes( and I'm no Arnold Swartzeneger).
the units are a little light duty, less than I expected, however they do everything that they are advertized to do.
I used the JACK to put in some tongue and groove flooring, and it worked great until the last course. I was squeezing the handle (with only one hand) to tighten up the joint when the handle snapped in two. After emailing the manufacturer, they sent out a replacement which I received in about a week.5 stars for customer service, but a product shouldn't break when you're using for something it's designed to do.
Kind of a scary way to let you know that you have exceeded its capacity. They apologized and sent me a new jack within a few days - no questions asked, no return of old jack required. Well, it seemed like a good idea, serving both as a cabinet and flooring installation tool. Excellent customer service the way it should be. However, when used for compressing tongue and groove flooring by wedging between wall and floorboards, it did not have enough strength to do the job - as a matter of fact, as I was squeezing the grip to increase pressure, the grip actually broke off in my hand. NEW: I contacted FastCap and told them what happened. Bottom line, I think the materials used should be more durable and resilient.
As a helping hand for lifting cabinets slightly off of the floor, it worked great. Also, one of the plastic feet broke fairly easily when I dropped the jack. 5 Stars for service. I have not yet contacted the seller to see if they will warrany this or not.
The clamp is very usful and I like the jack-type option. Good tool for the money. I lifted my jetted tub and it made a three man job into a single man job without any blood or missing body parts.
