I enjoy the lighter weight also. This finish gun is the best.I paid $400.00 for the SN II in 1988 the new 42XP was 199.00 at my local Pro-Build Building Supply in Santa Cruz CA Rock on. No repair parts were avaliable to repair the top end. My old snII nailer lasted 22 years. It was leaking some air. Doug It is still functionable. The new 42XP with its' depth setting is awesome.
Too bad , they made good tools. It remains to be seen what happens to Senco long-term. Many of the more consumer-oriented and Chineese/Taiwanese import brands have very short-lived parts availability. My local tool repair facility told me they are having a very tough time getting parts now and was not confident about the future. I have been considering this Senco gun.
They are meant to be used by homeowners until they break then thrown in landfills. This spring, Senco filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and sold off almost all of it's assets. So just beware. If anyone has updated info, please respond to this. If you purchase a Senco there's no assurance that parts will be available.
I like the way this gun fires and feels. Take good care of it and it will out last you. Seems a bit expensive but you know where your money is going once you use it.
A plus is the no worry of oiling it daily, plus there is no worry of getting oil on whatever I am nailing when I accidentally over oil, which is rare, but can happen. This is a strong nailer in tough oak treads and is very consistant in setting nails in the trim work I install. This nailgun does not disappoint as well as all other Senco products. I would buy this item again. I am a trim/stairwork carpenter and this is an excelent nail gun. It is also lighter than the other Senco finish nailers I have owned in the past.
The Senco FinishPro 42XP worked flawlessly out of the box. It has already saved me hours in not having to manually hammer and set nails in a remodeling project I'm doing at home. It is light, is very easy to handle and works great with Porter-Cable nails I purchased at Home Depot.
