Now you don't need to turn your sander on and off each time you need to reposition your work. While it sits, you're free to work - and your sandpaper disk gets gently cleaned by the crepe pad. Eliminates 70% - 80% of debris from the disk.5" replacement crepe disk pads are also available (sold separately, Rockler# 24709).

User Comments about the Baxter Creek SS001 5-Inch Sander Sitter

This product works well if you are using a sander by itself, but it is too small if you attach your sander to a vac for dustless sanding. I never use mine anymore. The sander will fall over if the vac hose is attached.

I ordered this for my husband as a christmas present and he is very impressed. Sand paper has a longer life.Thank you. He has been wanting one for a long time now he dont have to change sand paper as much just clean it.

This little device works as advertised. It works great. Turn off the sander and set it on the pad and you have gained a minute or so that otherwise you would be holding the sander for what seems forever while it winds down. This little device prevents scratches or falls on other surfaces and presents an easy way to hold a sander close by where it is needed.

If using a variable speed on highest setting the whole thing will "walk" off the bench if you leave it running more than a few seconds. It's another one of those "good ideas" that just doesn't transfer from concept to actual use very well. Can't recommend this one. Can't remember why I thought I needed this sander sitter. If you just really have to have one, let me know, I'll send ya mine for the cost of postage.

You have to set the sander down in it perfectly or it spins off the bench. First time my sander hit the floor I was a little more than upset. The whole mech is too light. As for the cleaning aspect, with the new stearite disks you can get, here on Amazon and from suppliers like Klingspor, you are hard pressed to ever load em up anyway.

No kidding. If time is money, this investment started making profits for me the first day I owned it. 4 spindles x 4 rows x 2 sides x 4 sides per spindle = a helluva lot of time waiting for the sander to wind down. So, it only gets 4 stars.UPDATE: I paid $24 for mine. It seems odd that you need to 'break in' this simple device but you need to. I make a lot of small stuff and I continually need to stop and rotate the part in the vise. I was doing these small spindles for a bookcase. Still, it seems awfully expensive for what it is. I see that these are now selling for about $15.

After following the directions, it works like a charm. This thingamajiggie probably cut down the time needed by half. So, I'd give it a five. Really.
