Editorial Reviews:

This high-strength sub-base fits Milwaukee BodyGrip® (series 5615 and 5616) and D-handle (series 5619) routers. The extra-large center hole allows for use of larger diameter bits as well as enhances cut visibility. Includes one sub-base.

User Comments about the Milwaukee 49-54-1040 6-Inch Diameter,1-3/16-Inch Center Hole Sub-Base

Milwaukee also makes clear 6-inch sub-bases for the 5615/5616 routers:- Part number 49-54-1027 has a 1-3/16-inch center hole.- Part number 49-54-1028 has a 2-1/2-inch center hole. These clear sub-bases are supplied with their plunge/fixed kits but seem difficult to find individually from retailers. You can also use other 6-inch or larger sub-bases that have the industry-standard hole pattern, but they might not have the cutouts for the above-table adjustment and the two rod clamp screws (used for the edge guide and dust shield/extractor). Holes can be drilled using the supplied sub-base as a template.

The package even includes spare screws and a torx bit. It if were clear plastic it would get five stars. If you don't need a clear one then it is a fine piece of equipment. I ordered this so as to do some template work with my Milwaukee 5616-24 router. As it is I think I have to get a new one.

It is beautifully machined and fits perfectly. very nice of them to include all that. But it's not clear arcylic. That makes it a little bit difficult to use for some operations - such as with a dovetail jig.

The only difference is the size of the center hole, and the fact that it's designed to hold a template guide. Milwaukee 49-54-1040 6-Inch Diameter,1-3/16-Inch Center Hole Sub-BaseIf you plan on using a Milwaukee 5615, 5616, or 5619 router to do any type of routing needing a template guide (e.g., from the Porter-Cable 42000 kit), this accessory base is mandatory. A template guide is inserted into the base, which is designed to receive a guide -- a template guide screw-ring holds the guide in place. This is a high-quality item and you should have no qualms about buying one. The sub-base is constructed using the same material as the standard base, and it fits the router perfectly.
