GREAT Saw, can be used in lieu of a circular saw and can cut through anything. This is important because the blade will warble if it isn't tight, this happened to us but no one was injured. If you already have a nice jigsaw and want the same cutting power, see if Bosch is offering their blades for your model, the bi-opposition teeth design is the real secret. But the blades take practice changing. The secret is the blades and Bosch now makes the blades available for different manufacturer jig and saber saws.Let me say there has never been any piece of wood or board this thing hasn't been able to rip through, I've even cut down mid size tree and the stump with the rough wood blade. The variable speed trigger is smooth so you can use this saw for fine craft work too.Just like every other reviewer, I have to reiterate the blades are tedious to change, it is a tool less system that has to be finessed. TIP: When it arrives and you've made a few cuts, practice removing and replacing the blades until you have the routine down.
I also bought the 24v circular saw, and the battery included, while still something of a disappointment, works much better than the first in the jigsaw, and is really good in the circ saw.Another peeve I'm compelled to note, involves the slop in the battery locking into place. Even though, in Bosch's defence I was primarily cutting 3/4" MDF and particle board which can be demanding on any tool (high glue content). This has never been severe enough to cause me concern that the battery would simply fall out--it is just annoying once you begin to notice it. My only grievances with an otherwise excellent tool would be exclusively with the batteries--the simply don't perform like anything approaching what is advertised. I can't remember) but I considered it lucky if I could retrieve even 30 min of full-power continuous run-time from them. They tire very, very fast. With most of the cordless Bosch tools, if you give them a decent shake, you can feel the battery sliding around, rattling. A Metabo drill of mine has a nearly identical style of battery retention yet there is almost no slop with this--this system isn't fundamentally flawed from an engineering standpoint, it just needs refinement (reinforcement and tighter tolerances). The jigsaw is every bit the well-designed, superbly durable tool Bosch has built its reputation on.
They are rated 2.0 amp/hr (or 2.4. Nonetheless a battery which is supposed to last 2 hours, should at least perform at half of this. It is nice being totally compatible with all the blades in the Bosch jigsaw universe--although avoid the edge guide: it is a complete waste of money. If it doesn't you'll find yourself in my position of often waiting for a battery to charge in order to finish a cut: which in my opinion is one of the most frustrating things to have happen in the middle of a job.
I just received this jig saw to go with my other 24 volt tools, wow this is very impressive. I am very happy with the smooth cuts that this saw can perform, I also paid a good price for it with the rebate from Amazon, thanks Amazon,, I also have the 18 volt jig saw it is just as nice, if your thinking about purchasing this saw I think you will be happy,,
