Editorial Reviews:

Woodworkers who like the smooth, accurate performance of Bosch's jig saws will appreciate this new cordless model. It offers plenty of power for making curved cuts in a variety of materials, and doesn't skimp on usability features. At its heart is a powerful and smooth-running Bosch-built motor and a durable and lightweight magnesium gear housing. The saw has variable speed from 0 to 2,000 strokes per minute with a 1-inch stroke length, and a maximum capacity of 2-3/4 inches in wood and 5/16 inch in steel. The base bevels 45 degrees and comes with a foot cover to protect finished surfaces. The tool-free blade-changing system is as simple and quick as we've seen, and even ejects used blades with the pull of a lever. There's a soft rubber top-handle grip that can be used in a couple different positions, and the variable-speed trigger has an ambidextrous lock-on switch. With this tool's smooth performance and Bosch-built reliability, we think any one who finds curve cutting and cords a cumbersome combination will appreciate it.

User Comments about the Bosch 52314 14.4 Volt Jig Saw with 1 Battery

The jigsaw is solidly built, has plenty of power, 3 orbital settings and a chip blower. After being disappointed in my last 2 DeWalt purchases (cordless drills) I decided to give Bosch a try. I don't believe that you can buy a better cordless jigsaw for the money. I now own a cordless drill, an impact driver and this jigsaw, all 14.4V, and couldn't be more pleased. And you don't have to worry about the cord. My old B&D Industrial corded jigsaw is on its last leg so I talked my wife into letting me get the Bosch 52314.

This saw is awesome. Really, you can not beat this saw for the money - especially factoring in the cordless capability. With the Bosh Progressor blades it will eat any wood I ask it to with precision. I know that the trend in cordless jig saws is going above 14.4 but it really isn't neccesary. It outperforms any corded jig saw I have ever had. I'll be buried with mine (kidding). I have used it to cut fine detail in thick pressure treated lumber as well as standard lumber.

GREAT Saw, can be used in lieu of a circular saw and can cut through anything. This is important because the blade will warble if it isn't tight, this happened to us but no one was injured. If you already have a nice jigsaw and want the same cutting power, see if Bosch is offering their blades for your model, the bi-opposition teeth design is the real secret. But the blades take practice changing. The secret is the blades and Bosch now makes the blades available for different manufacturer jig and saber saws.Let me say there has never been any piece of wood or board this thing hasn't been able to rip through, I've even cut down mid size tree and the stump with the rough wood blade. The variable speed trigger is smooth so you can use this saw for fine craft work too.Just like every other reviewer, I have to reiterate the blades are tedious to change, it is a tool less system that has to be finessed. TIP: When it arrives and you've made a few cuts, practice removing and replacing the blades until you have the routine down.

I have yet to pull out the corded ones. it beats dragging out the cords. I highly recommend this tool. I have 3 jig saws. i have several 14 volt bosch tools so I have about 10 batteries but for the most part 1 battery works well.

2 with cords and this one with the batteries. this tool works great. has good run power for most jig sawing. rounding a top of a gate, notches in wood etc.
