ALL FOUR UNITS WERE TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DELTA FACTORY SERVICE FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THEY COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THEY EITHER CUT A TAPER OR PUT A LOW SPOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOARD ELIMINATING ANY KIND OF AN ACCEPTABLE JOINT. KNOBS THAT INTERFERE WITH EACH OTHER. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS A FLIMSLY FENCE AND HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL ADJ. I WENT THROUGH FOUR UNITS IN A PERIOD OF 2 WEEKS AND NONE OF THEM OPERATED PROPERLY. THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT ON EITHER TABLE OTHER THAN ELEVATION ON THE INFEED TABLE. I HAD NO PROBLEM GETTING REPLACEMENTS OR IN THE CASE OF THE LAST UNIT, A REFUND. ALL OF THE UNITS HAD ONE OR BOTH TABLES THAT WERE WARPED OR HAD UNEVENLY MACHINED MOUNTING BOSSES.
Tool is fairly good for a jointer in this price range. it is powerfull enough to plain 6" rock maple without stalling (although at minimium stock removal)
Good on small to mid size projects.Nice speed controls. A bit loud on high speed but not too bad- wear protection.
I have a few Delta tools and I was surprised of the poor "accuracy" of this product. All in all, after the hassle during set up with the shimming, it does have decent construction and provides as a good small shop jointer for under $300. The in feed table was not completely flat with the outfeed table at zero clearance and needed to be shimmed in order to get an accurate "flat" jointed edge; disappointed to say the least from a Delta tool.
I bought this unit and tried to set things up so everything was flush and true only to discover that the infeed table was badly warped. I am really sorry I bought this thing and will never purchase another delta tool. I took it in for service and they had the gall to charge me for repairs. The fence is horrible.
