Editorial Reviews:

While there are a number of rotary tools on the market made by a host of different manufacturers, the Dremel Moto Tool is the one they all strive to copy. Dremel's MultiPro variable-speed model is great for a huge range of projects, from home improvement tasks to hobbies and crafting. It has a continuously adjustable speed range from 5,000 to 35,000 rpm, which allows the user to effectively work with materials as soft as balsa wood and as hard as ceramics. The flexible shaft that comes with this model is great for working in tight spots many rotary tools can't touch. The kit also comes with an assortment of accessories and a handy carrying case. Others may copy it, but Dremel has been making rotary tools so long they've come close to perfecting the idea. --Brian Trinen

User Comments about the Dremel 3956-02 MultiPro Super 1.15 Amp 5,000 to 35,000 RPM Variable Speed Rotary Tool with 77 Accessories

I like the corded model, I will never have to worry about a battery going dead or needing replacement. I bought this tool to replace a dremel which I have owned for 25 years. I find this one superior to my original, I think the quality is good and the flexible shaft and accessories provided will cover all of my needs. I think the price is fair for what I received. There is plenty of room in the carrying case for everything included plus all of my own old tool bits.

In addition, low speeds does not have any torque. I got some pliers and safety glasses in it with the rotary tool. This is sometimes inconvenient for me because there are some sanding I need to perform with delicate materials with low speeds. Great product. It comes with everything I need for basic cutting and grinding. The hard case is very sturdy and can hold many bits and some extra tools also. The slightest touch will stop the head on low speeds. Overall, this product is very good.

Very easy to use. The extension is very useful to me since I am usually working on small items such as RC cars, airsoft guns, and small electronics. It is everything I need for a rotary tool. On the other hand, sometimes the lowest speed does not work, and it just makes a buzzing sound.

What a workhorse. We all know that they don't make things like they used to, but Dremelis truely the exception to that rule. I've been using Dremel products for many years as a hobbiest and Dremel never fails to disappoint. I am more than satisfied with my purchase. You can't go wrong at all by buying this product.

Have used the tool several times so far and am very pleased with it. I used it for some projects on my boat and used it to grind my dogs nails down. I'm a happy camper. Delivery was timely. she has never let me touch them before and she tolerated it very well.

Packaging was great. but I haven't pushed it very hard or had a lot of hours on it. But so far, I like it a lot. The "accessory package" wasn't as complete as I expected but the included flex-shaft is great.

This new one has much betterspeed control and much better power at low speed than my old one did.People should realize that these things really are hobby tools. For these reasons, I only rated it a 4. The speed control slider is also a little clumsy. So I overshoot and it runs too fast, and then I have to back it off. I have one of these kits and a much older Dremel that must be going on 20 years old now.

These are really handy, light-weight, flexible, versatile tools. I know Dremel does commercials showing people cutting off nails and fixing up things around the house, and these tools can certainly do that, but don't expect them to hold up like a contractor-grade power drill if you use them that way. But this really is a minor point, and it happens less and less as I get used to it. But the assortment of cutters, grinders, and sanders that it comes with are very useful, not just cheap "fluff" to fill up the box. I use them for model train work.

It's not built for that.Where these really excel is for hobby work - model trains, jewelry-making, all sorts of crafts, doll houses, model making, that sort of thing. The carry case on this model has compartments, but they are kind of clumsy for holding all the attachments. They are a good breadth of Dremel's attachment pieces. The flexible shaft is a nice touch.Overall, for $75, a heck of a handy, nice tool to have around. When I want it on a low speed, I often push it past where I want it because it's a bit too hard to push.
