I love the dust collection on them because the hose goes straight up connected to a boom arm i have and they hose stays out of the way. CONTACT Amazon not DeWalt if the item is defective when you get it or it breaks down within a week. If one breaks on you its a lemon. These are nice routers. The plunge mechanism is no the smoothest but the power is just as good as the other comparable units. Amazon will send out a new item quick. The dust collection type is enough for me to overlook a few minor flaws.I have 7 of them and not one has ever broke down and I use them for work in a shop environment.

A piece of packing tape that sealed the outer cardboard shell was missing as indicated by blemished strip of cardboard. In addition they expect me to pay for shipping to return the item. Inspected acrylic plates closely and found many scratches. After seeing these things I immediately packed it back up and ordered a replacement. This product arrived on schedule.

This one had been. Opened the tool case and found acrylic plates floating around out of their slots, which I don't believe could happen during shipping if they had been in their proper slots. This unit was NOT NEW. We'll see about that. My first instinct is to always look at packaging to see if it's been opened before.

Noticed small dent by power cord receptacle which was caused by something sharp like an awl. I am very disappointed. One quick release latch was completely broken off which also couldn't have happened during shipping.

This is my 2nd router, and in my opinion,it's awesome. Used it plenty both in and out of my table. I snagged it at a really good price, and am very happy with its performance.

I am coming from an old craftsman fixed based, and this Dewalt is a dream. I thought porter cable would be good too, but it consistently was sloppy at every store, so I purchased the dewalt and am very pleased with it. I looked at many before the purchase and the Dewalt was the only one that constantly at every store was tight and accurate in the plunge rails.

I have every reason to expect this tool to perform well for a long time, as have all of my Dewalt tools. Everything works as advertised, and the product arrived in a timely manner in excellent condition. This is my first router, selected after reading a multitude of woodworking magazine reviews. I'm on a steep learning curve, but am impressed with the quality of the DW618. Dust collection with the plunge base is awesome, and adjusting depth of cut on both bases is easy and accurate: good stuff. The kit includes both a fixed and a plunge base, thus I did not have to make a decision, but can enjoy the benefits of each type.
