Editorial Reviews:

The Jet Bed Extension increases the working capacity of the Mini Lathe to 40-inches between centers. Jet Mini lathes produced before June 1, 2001 with serial numbers 105XXXX and lower require an additional retro kit (JET stock No. 708357) to complete the bed extension transformation. Other features include heavy-duty cast-iron construction and a durable white powder coating to match most Jet branded products.

User Comments about the Jet 708355 JML-BE Bed Extension for 708351B JML-1014 Lathe

Product arrived in tact, and contained all the advertised parts. Highly recommended. It took longer to unpack than to set up on my Jet JML-1014 lathe, and it fit perfectly.

Hooks right up to the Jet 1040I with no trouble at all and adds much needed room for larger items. If you get a Jet mini-lathe, you need this for the price. As solid as the lathe; exceptional construction.

As far as installation goes, it took me all of about 15 to 20 minutes to install and align the bed extension. I mainly turn bowls and pens, but occassionaly turn spindles. If you own a Jet 1014 and you do any spindle turning outside of pens, I would highly reccomend you buy the bed extension. Before buying the extension, I designed projects around the size of my bed. The holes were drilled dead on accurate and I have no issues with the banjo or tail stock catching on the transition - it's as if it was one solid piece all along. Now that I have the extension, I am no longer limited.

If you are going to order the mini lathe, you'll need this to turn anything of length. Another rock solid cast iron tool.

I have a mini Jet and wanted to be able to do a little larger work. Once all that said and done it did give me the option to do larger work. The bed extension did not just bolt up, I had to do some drilling, filing work that I feel with the money spent I should not have had to do.
