Editorial Reviews:

The DEWALT D55151 Hot Dog Compressor has all the power of a large compressor, but constructed as a smaller, lighter unit. It delivers 3.2 cubic feet per minute at 100 psi and is durably built with oil-lubricated cast-iron cylinder. Included with the Hot Dog Compressor are a 2/8 inch regulator and an initial fill of DEWALT synthetic air compressor oil.

User Comments about the DEWALT D55151 14 Amp 2-1/2-HP 4-Gallon Oiled Twin Hot Dog Compressor

This is one great compressor for a number of uses. I also use it in my garage to keep the maintenance up on my vehicles. Am very happy with mine and am sure you will be too. We just added on an extra room and used the DeWALT for all framing, trim, exterior siding, roof etc etc. No problems here. Air tools I use are no problem with this compressor. All the air tools we attached to it the DeWALT never skipped a beat.

I strongly recomend a oil-type compressor. Not a good compressor for a crew it will not handle more than 2 framing guns (cfms to low)but 1 gun or 2 if not going nuts, will keep up all day. where oil-free compressors piston rings naturaly wear down over time and will require a rebuild. I have used a wide range of compressors in renovations and remodels. the first one I owned was oil-free and it only lasted about a year. If running continiously drain tank every hour to save tools or after every use, small tanks=lots of moisture. as long as you check your oil level and color before every use and change when you notice the break down of the oil (brown in color don't wait till it turns black) you compressor will last a DIY a life time.

Major problem for me is that it requires to be plugged into an outlet and an extension cord should not be used. I did not have any packaging problems or issues and it worked fine. Not a lot of info on Dewalt website for trouble shooting, found the website [.]. I did some research on my own and through trouble shooting, I determined it was the power, now I run a longer hose so the compressor can sit by the outlet, not a major issue and it has been working fine since then. I bought this compressor after the one I had died on me. I used an extension cord (properly rated) and it did not provide enough power, it would start up then make a whining noise and did not pressurize. to be useful in resolving my issue. I consulted Dewalt Service Store to determine what the problem was and they said it worked fine with them.

I bought this compressor cause it was lighter than most with a good reputation, however being a carpenter and using it in all weathers in the northeast just doesnt work it wont start. had to buy an oilfree would not recommend it.

The Dewalt air compressor arrived on time and performs as expected. I have enjoyed using the item and, with general maintenance, I expect it to last for many years to come.
