6 In. Jointer Type: Mobile base for 6" Powermatic Jointer Fits Part Numbers: 54A

User Comments about the Powermatic 2042374 Mobile Base

The base comes pretty much ready for use and once the power tool is on it, it works as described. Be smarter than I was and it should work fine. It's pretty sturdy once the machine is on it but it is not that stable so I strongly recommend help getting the machine loaded properly in place. I found out the hard way it doesn't stay still while trying to "shimmy" my jointer onto the mobile base even with the wheels locked.

When locking the front wheel and screwing in the holdfasts into the rear wheels, the jointer is immobile - I couldn't push it forward, backwards or sideways - just what i needed and was expecting. The mobile base had a good finish, nice ball bearings on the hard rubber wheels. Purchased the base on Amazon in January and received promptly and with free shipping as advertised. When i installed the Jointer, fit was perfect. Regards, Matt The unit is ridgid and allows me to move the jointer as needed.

My name is Douglas Hampton and I bought the merchandise. This item was on back-order for a month and when I got it both of the caster lock knobs were broken

Don't be put off by comments that this base suffers from having only three wheels. It is well-built, it makes moving the saw a snap, it sits low to the floor, and it fits the saw well. Removing them to move the saw will take no more time than taking the brake off each wheel. . Yes, it is a bit tippy, but I plan to take 2 minutes to cut a couple of shims for the corners of the one-wheel side.

if you want a base for your Powermatic 66 saw. I read this criticism when I first bought my saw and leaned initially toward one of the other after-market bases. I wish I hadn't because it would have been a lot easier to mount my saw before it was fully assembled. I could not be happier with this unit.
