Editorial Reviews:

Offering stand-out performance and providing convenient, built-in dust collection, the DeWalt DW621 2 HP Plunge Router is both powerful and well-balanced for precision performance. Variable engine speed ranging from 8,000 RPM to 24,000 RPM with an electronic control that maintains speed during tough cuts means you can use a broad range of bits without the burning delicate woods or getting bogged down. For added convenience, you can set your desired depth quickly and accurately using a rack-and-pinion height adjustment system. This professional router includes long, precision-machined collets in both 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch sizes, a vacuum adapter, a universal edge guide featuring fine fence adjustment, a template guide bushing adapter for use with universal, 1-3/16-inches guide bearings, a wrench for efficient bit changes, and a heavy-duty kit box for easy storage and transport. It is backed by a 3-year limited warranty.

User Comments about the DEWALT DW621K 2-Horsepower VS Electronic Plunge Router Kit with Carrying Case and Universal Edge Guide

My friendly neighborhood DeWalt repair center fixed it for me. I did some research, and found out that I'm not the only one with this problem. Works great until the switch wears out. The electronic circuitry on these units are notorious for failing. I have a couple other routers that have done 10-50 times more work, and are still going strong. $175 to fix a $190 router. $175 for the repair.

The electronic speed control on my unit wore out with very low hours on it. I went to pick it up. I'd suggest a Porter Cable if you want a 2 hp router. Keep the piece of sh**.

I have difficulty changing bits and setting plunge depth due to the power cord and chip ejection port tube getting in the way. I bought my DW621 refurbished thru another online company. It is my first plunge router, and has opened a new world of woodworking up for me with this capability. All in all, I'm glad I have it. It is powerful and does what it should - I like this tool.

The hose connection for dust removal through the column will catch about 80% of the dust, but when you use the base attachment it is 99%,Rated # 1 or 2 by most woodworking tool reviewers, and from my view for the money it is # one. I own several DeWalt tools and love them all, very good tools for the money. But I have no use for there Black and Decker line of tools.

Great router kit. Anyway, Amazon had it in stock and I'm not disappointed. I first ordered from TylerTool.com only to wait and wait for nothing because they said it was in stock when you order, then they fail to let you know that they don't even have it in stock. I'm finding out that there is more and more online tool business like Tyler Tools that are doing this type of deceptive selling with attractive low price listings stealing time and money from buyers and legitimate sellers like Amazon.

This is a plunge router that defintely has a significant place in my shop but, in my opinion, the plunge router is really not the best router to use for router table use if that's how you plan to use it. DeWalt's 2 hp Plunge Router is the best choice for a middle of the road place for the plunge router. It's both basic and heavy duty for most tasks. Best stick to a fixed base, if that's your need. The dust collection port is a added plus improvement over DeWalt's version of the Elu plunge routers.
