User Comments about the Stanley 20-556 6-Inch FatMax Jab Saw

This is my first experience using a saw like this, and its ease of use is already giving me more ideas for home improvement. Enter Fat Max. I was creating a couple of openings for new electrical sockets in my home; I had started them by drilling smaller holes around the area I needed to saw out, and though I was using a fairly sharp drill bit, it was quite a task to drill all the way through the 2-layer, 1" thick drywall I was up against. and I mean that literally. My landlord will just have to deal with it. That little sucker tore through that drywall like it was French bread, and I was done with both openings in less than five minutes, with much less effort than I expected it to be.

But overall it was good until I dropped it inside a wall. It was good before I dropped it inside a wall. Teeth were super sharp, the blade stiff, but the handle was too bulky though.as is the case with all of the FatMax tools. I know where it is but it's not really worth the trouble to try to fish it out or bust a hole in the wall to get it. They really should slim down these designs a bit.

i use it a lot when i cant get others in to an area. i also had my doubts but we were proven wrong. the guy i was with it would never cut it when i brought it out. great little saw. cut a treated 4X4 (needed to be trimmed from my deck, and couldnt get to it any other way) in two in about 5 min. everyone should have one. with it.

Great value. Used it to trim a couple fresh branchs the other day, cut through it like butter. Good tool for a rough cut of countless things.

This is a nice single purpose saw, but I bought the Milwaukee 48-08-0401 Quik-Lok Job Saw instead. It's over twice the price, but I can use any Sawzall blade in it, from a 12" pruning blade Bosch RP125 12-Inch 5 TPI Wood Cutting reciprocating Saw Blades - 5 Pack and screw a broom handle in the end to have a pole saw, to a 6" 18 tooth metal cutting blade, Milwaukee 48-00-4184 Ice Edge Sawzall Blade 18 Teeth Per Inch 6-Inch Length for trimming up some angle iron. And of course you can get a drywall blades, Milwaukee 48-00-5036 Super Sawzall Blade 6 Teeth per Inch 9-Inch Length It's more money but it's more useful.
