However, the motor is suseptiple to getting dust in the brushes so it needs to be kept clean by blowing the dust out of the motor on a regular basis when doing a lot of ripping. The Bosch 4000-N-RT is a nice worksite tablesaw. It is lightweight and easy to haul around and set up on site. In summary great worksite table saw but not what a serious carpenter would buy for the home shop. Cuts well with very little arbor/blade wobble, easily operable fence that stays parallel to the blade.
Combined with the Bosch stand, it is a really nice unit. I've been using it regularly for about 6 months now. I am very happy with this saw especially for the price. Although the saw has been reconditioned, it appeared to be like new. The saw arrived with a good plywood blade (with lots of teeth). It runs great and has plenty of power.
For a bit more more, you can get the new version with extensions and stand. Reconditioned is supposed to be "returned to like-new condition". The saw I received does not look new to me, it looks like a used saw. The money saved buying a slightly beat-up looking used saw isn't worth it. Deep scratches in the table and some sawdust.
The motor has plenty of power which makes for very smooth, easy cuts. I was very surprised and very happy to recieve my saw in new packaging and to see that it had been totally reconditioned. I couldn't find a mark on it. It is everything they said it would be. It assembled easily and runs perfectly.
Unfortunately, my fence was damaged during shipment. As mentioned in other reviews, the packaging left a lot to be desired. I contacted customer service and they're working on sending a replacement. The perfect compromise for someone like me who doesn't have the room for a full size one.
I'll update my review when my fence gets replaced---stay tuned. Bosch sent a brand new one. Without the fence damage this saw is worth five stars. I just received my recon saw yesterday. The miter guage, blade guard and fence however, were tucked under the saw and were loose. The lockdown mechanism was bent and no longer worked. I received my fence this week.
It locks down tight and is very accurate once adjusted. The saw itself was wedged into the standard styrofoam form fitting pieces that contained the saw in the box without shifting. The saw itself is wonderful. Thanks for a great saw at a bargain price. It took a long time for me to finally decide to buy this saw and don't want to ship the whole thing back, so I'll wait for good news from Amazon CS.
