I've replaced mine and it's not right one the money. The worst case (one on flat, one on a corner) puts the angle off by 2 degrees. The large size, heavy construction, angle adjustment feature and pocket reference are very nice but.The studs used square it with the wood once adjusted are hex nuts and they skew the angle if they aren't both set to contact the wood on the same edge of the hex nut. If you then have to flip the square over you are now off by 4 degrees which makes for poor craftsmanship. If it had come with knurled nuts instead of hex nuts I'd give it 5 stars instead of 3. A better choice for the studs would have been tall knurled nuts instead of hex nuts.
I would pay double for this square. Another plus is that you won't worry about scratching it up since it has a brushed aluminum/industrial kind of finish on it.I use it as a marking guide, square, and straight edge for my jigsaw/circular saw.Used in concert with my 18inch Incra T-Rule I'm the master of measuring/marking. I use it and it's smaller 7 inch cousin every single time I have a project. The thing that sets it apart from other squares is that the base has a lip on it that you can set on your project to square up perfectly.
I've had this 12" speed square for about a month now and it's doing the job I need it to do. No complaints.
B I G. It is sturdy, accurate, and the numbers are easily readable. It performs a variety of duties as noted in the blue booklet that comes with it. This square is big. Not as portable as the 7" version, but more versital in many ways. I recommend this size over the 7" size if you don't have to carry it from place to place. At this size it functions perfectally as a saw guide as noted here by others.
No more guessing with an adjustable combination square. This speed square is acurate and quick.
