I've come to really trust customer reviews and they were right on this tool. Really an impressive tool. Just got and used to board up house in preparing for hurrican earl. Used half inch plywood and this driver handled all the screws both on and off and all on one charge.
I also like that the motor is enclosed in metal. This unit uses a variable speed trigger which works much more smoothly. This seems a little boxy but once you start to use it you will love it. The unit may be a little heavy for some but when you are running 7.2 volts there has to be batteries somewhere. The old dewalts didnt really have enough battery power so it wasnt really worth using.
My old craftsman had a rocker switch and a high and low speed switch. Great power and comes with two batteries which charte in an hour so chances of you running out of power are low. The only con I can muster is I wish it would pivot closer to 90 degrees for comfort but that may be personal too. It took a little getting used to the direction selection which is located just below the pivot but that was more of a "Getting used to it" type of thing. Over all if you want power and convienence this is an excellent buy.
It works great at jobs like removing and re-installing all the screws from the back of a guitar amplifier's speaker cabinet. The offer from Amazon to purchase it at a reasonable price was irresistible and I'm glad I got one. The Dewalt Cordless Screwdriver has the quality you expect from a Dewalt product. It has enough power to drive drywall screws into wood with a small pilot hole drilled first. I can't justify spending the money on their full size cordless drills but this was a great price on a power tool that you will use for a large variety of tasks. It also has good battery life and Dewalt provides 2 battery packs and a smart charger.
The only negative comment I have is that the forward/reverse button could be relocated as it is to easy to accidentally hit it while in use. I work in maintenance at a factory and it gets alot of use. I purchased this for use at work over a year ago. The batteries hold up really well and it has plenty of power for everything I've used it for. All in all it's an excellent tool and I would highly recommend it. I liked it so well I bought another one for use at home.
I had always been meaning to buy a cordless screwdriver but never got around to it. I don't know what more I can say that everyone else hasn't already - it's worth every penny. Finally I broke down and bought the Dewalt DW920K2 and boy am I glad I did. I use it constantly and it sure saves time and hand strain.
