For safer and more accurate drilling, the DELTA 20-619 6-inch Drill Press Vise lets you clamp the materials you're working on securely to your workbench. With a quick release that lets you adjust to various sized workpieces with a quick and simple sliding of a tightening screw, you'll be able to get things done faster. A final tightening can be done with a turn of the crank handle. The vise features cast iron construction, and has slots so you can mount it to drill press tables. The jaws of the vise are 6 inches wide and are pre-drilled for auxiliary jaw plates.

User Comments about the Delta 20-619 6-Inch Drill Press Vise

USING A WIDE-JAWWELDING TYPE VISE GRIP WORKS PRETTY WELL TO STABILIZE THISVISE. THE QUALITY OF THIS VISE IS GOOD, HOWEVER YOUWOULD THINK SINCE IT'S A DELTA, AND MY DRILL PRESS IS A DELTA,THEY WOULD BE 100% COMPATIBLE. THEY ARE NOT. YOU WILL ALSO NEED BOLTS AND WING NUTS, BECAUSE THEYARE NOT INCLUDED. YOUWILL NEED THIS VISE, BUT WILL FIND THAT IN SOME APPLICATIONSTHE SLOTS DO NOT MATCH THE DRILL PRESS.

I bought this for the DELTA 17-959L 17-Inch Laser Crosshair Drill Press knowing it wasn't intended to work with it but I assumed that with some modifications it would. With these modifications it works fine with the listed press. I cut/ground out the slot divider on the vise base so there is one long slot per side and then added some 1/2" bolts and large wingnuts to clamp it to the drill press table.

I have used the small, three inch drill press vice, for years. This larger vice improves safety (flanges closer to the edge of the table are easier to clamp), versatility (wider jaws allow more room for stops, jigs, spacers, etc)., capacity, speed (the quick-nut works great)and is still small enough to move/store easily.

To accommodate this there are two ΒΌ" holes spaced 3-5/8" apart.Regarding the quick release screw, a 30 degree five tooth nut segment engages the screw. If the jaw is away from the work, you can also push on the screw with the nut down and the jaw will ratchet forward with ease. The unit comes well packaged. The bottom of the jaws sits 1-5/8" above the drill press table. Amazon had the box the vise came in packed in another box. You can rotate the nut away from the screw and slide the jaw forward or back. This device is a great addition to my shop.

It is 9-3/4" long x 8-7/8" wide. The jaws themselves are 1-1/2" high x 5-7/8" wide. It goes well with my free-standing 16-1/2" drill press; it may be too big for most bench top drill presses. The vise was in a plastic bag inside the box. Below is information that will let you judge if this vise will work for you. You probably will want a wood block on the jaws. The bare metal on the vise is protected with an oil coating which needs to be removed before the unit is used.

It has a pivot arranged such that when you tighten it, the threads on the nut bite into the screw.

Tapping the holes means I dont have a bolt and nut to contend with, just two bolts (that is all I really needed) and 20 seconds to get everything where I need it and one hand tightening is great. Let me start off by saying that when I bought this product, I knew it would not fit my 12" drill press. I like a challenge so I got it and found if I drilled and tapped the base it becomes easily adjustable and works just fine. I can't complain for the price and this will probably bolt right onto a taller floor standing model base. Drilling and tapping the base makes adjustments of the vice easy and say I like this setup better than one that would have just bolted on.
