User Comments about the Coleman Cable 02409 14/3 SJTW Vinyl Outdoor Extension Cord, Red, 100-Foot

A simple fix, but until then beware. Check the amp rating before you buy any cord, and do not run extension cords in series. If you don't get it to fit snugly, a loose fit can cause the wires to overheat and start a fire. One other reviewer claimed a fire happened to him and I have little doubt that this is the cause. Otherwise you'll burn up the motor in your equipment over time and ruin your device. However I cannot recommend anything that is a potential fire hazard. I first used the cord on 12/19/2009.

Our community (DC/Baltimore area) got 21.5 inches of snow: an all time record for that day (12/9), an all time record for the month of December, and one of the top ten single-day snowfalls of all time for our area. BE CAREFUL. Anyway my electric snow blower can only handle snow depths of up to 8 inches. The plugs should be redesigned to be smaller. I plan to keep using my extension cord because I'm aware of the problem and will double if not triple check every time that I use it. This extension cord has two great pros but one very serious con.Pros:1) You don't want an extension cord that is not rated for the amps you need.

The extra distance will create resistance and drop the current the cords can deliver to your equipment.2) It stays very pliable even in cold weather. (This was as all of the politicians were flying back to Washington DC from the Copenhagen so-called "global warming" summit and all of the regional airports were closed because of the record snow. This extension cord delivers 13 amps over 100 feet which is great. It was very easy to manipulate in even the coldest of temperatures - a vast improvement over my previous extension cords.Con:The plug is oversized and consequently won't fit snugly in all sockets depending upon their size. I can run my 12 amp snow blower or my 12 amp leaf blower and know their electric motors are protected. What irony, eh).

I left the cord outside in subzero temperatures for 24 hours. So I had to clear my driveway, go back out hours later & do it again, repeat several times.

This cord works great, easy to see and a descent price. Allows me to use my electric snow thrower and reach my entire driveway length.

Well it does the same thing that the one in Wa-mart does but for only 12.50. I'd buy that one if I were you.

What can i say. Cord.I'm happy. It's a good heavy outdoor exten.

Cable well insulated with decent thick rubber coating. What else is there to say. Well made, no short-cuts on production value.
