User Comments about the Bosch TS1007 Dado Insert

The manual specifies the TS1007. You can use it if you remove the knife. This insert was designed for the older Bosch saw. This is a little time consuming and adds to the setup time. This The new saw requires a slot off the back of the insert to accomodate the new blade splitter knife. Frankly I think they are trying to sell off all the old inserts before issuing the new. I did not find this out until I tried to use it.

The newer model has an improved splitter knife that attaches over the blade and has it's attachment hardware alongside the blade. However, the wweb site for Bosch shows the insert with the slot. I am not happy with Bosch. A call to Bosch Tech support told me that the picture on the web site was wrong and I had to remove the knife to use the insert.

Unfortunatly this unit is slightly misformed. I will reorder in the hope the next one is OEM top quality. IT will not fit properly into the saw and must be returned.

Before buying this, we made do with a "homemade" dado insert made out of particle board. Worked exactly as described. Needless to say, this is much more secure - it fits flush to the table, or perhaps a tad below, so it does not cause the wood to catch.

If you can't get the nut completely on the treads, remove the outer washer and just use the nut. The finish on this insert was seemingly hand painted, as in brushed. Perhaps the metal was not finely sanded prior to painting, but it has a lesser quality apperance than the original insert. The trick to getting larger stacks onto this saw is to, and this is from Bosch, remove the inner and outer washers on the arbor. Mine is not flat, but isn't too bad if I press down firmly. I do it all the time though without problems. I use it, it works.

I have it on the 4000 Bosch Table saw. Then use the outer, thinner one, as the inner washer. I'll soon make my own zero clearance dado inserts, instead of using this. I would just make my own next time, and will soon replace this with home made inserts. I didn't have any problems with rubbing, as some claimed. Use the inner, thicker tapered one, as needed. Happy wood working.

Bosch states that this is not needed on dado stacks, but I have to admit it makes me a bit nervous.

Easy to install and remove. Great deal and price. It actually fits and it's as advertised.
