Replacement for all Dremel corded tools.

User Comments about the Dremel 4486 Dremel MultiPro Keyless Chuck

I had to replace the original chuck on my Dremmel because it broke,I bought this chuck and it works better than the original chuck and it is easy to install, but be careful starting it on the threaded shaft not to cross thread it.Just install bit into chuck and turn the chuck clockwise until the bit is tight,to remove just turn chuck counter clockwise to remove the bit.

This is an identical replacement to the chuck provided on my Dremel when new. The jaws do need frequent cleaning to remain free for quick change of bits.

In these cases, I have given up and used the collet. Personally, I think it's a bit on the price side, but the real disappointment comes after repeated use. Especially on uses where there is side loading or any chatter, but chuck quickly loosens up. I have two of these, and the problem seems to get worse over time making the product proportionally more expensive due to its short lifespan. There have been many applications where no matter how hard I tighten the chuck, the bit comes loose after literally 10 seconds or less.

This thing can be really helpful, but I've found that it's not that much easier to get open by hand than the one that came on the Dremel. It's definitely helpful, but I'm not sure I would spend money on this, given another chance. I bought this at the same time as my Dremel, so I didn't really get a chance to try the tool without it first, which I think was a mistake. The chuck that comes with it isn't very difficult to unscrew by hand, and this one can be fairly stiff.

This chuck is so easy to install and use expanding any Dremel tool to a new dimension. FYI it works/fits perfectly in a Dremel 4000 rotary tool.
