I bought this tool for wood burning. Bummer. The third time I used it, the threaded end of the tip broke off inside the iron rendering it useless.
It quit heating and I'd like to return it. Now it doesn't heat at all. But, if it happens again, I would never buy this product again. Bought this tool as a woodburner in November, 2009. I would probably try a replacement of the same one with the idea that maybe this was just a lemon.
It just went kaput. It certainly should have survived a lot longer. I have a couple of older woodburning tools that I use occasionally, but they were never high enough in wattage to get hot enough and would take forever to complete a project. So, I bought this one which worked great for two months.
It was everything we expected and more. My husband has other dremel tools and they are great.
Pretty handy for wood burning art and craft design. I replaced with a heavier more stable pen rest. The pen rest needs work though.
I purchased this tool specifically for cutting foam balls used for Christmas ornaments. I am disappointed in Dremel. After cutting only five 3" balls, the base of the knife blade has bent. I guess the heat was responsible for this and the tool kit will have to be returned or exchanged.
