User Comments about the Black & Decker PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery

Only promo saying "now 30% more capacity". Personally for me it has no meaning, since I'm going to re-pack this unit with higher capacity NiMH cells.I opened this battery today. Only thing to note is that while it is compatible with DeWalt 9.6V batteries, it is a bit bigger, and strangely - much more lighter than dewalt ones, which leads to unpleasant conclusions. There's no information on it about capacity at all. So, if we consider "basic" capacity as 1.2ah (As does DW9062), increased capacity should be 1.5ah. The cells inside are 1.2ah, and increased dimensions are just caused by plastic spacer under the cells. I have not used this battery so much yet, so can't say anything about actual capacity.

I bought a drill about 12 years ago that was just the perfect size for my small hand. Thanks. It is impossible to find a drill with such good power and battery life and I was so happy to be able to find this battery. I hope they never stop making replacement batteries.

Upon receipt I noticed some slight physical differences, but found that they did not hinder insertion of the battery into either the drill or the charger. It was by far the least expensive. My drill is the DW926 that originally used the DW9062 9.6v DeWalt battery. I gave it a 24 hour initial charge in my DeWalt charger which worked flawlessly. After reading many reviews I decided to give this battery a try. I am also very pleased with the power of the battery. This is a perfect alternative, and much less expensive, for the regular replacement DeWalt battery. So far (a few months)I have used it a number of times and not yet had to re-charge.

Other reviewers indicated this battery was a replacement for the Dewalt 9.6 volt. Additionally, it is quite a bit lighter than the Dewalt, which translates to less capacity. It will fit, but only after trimming off part of the battery housing.

I'm ordering a second B&D battery to have on hand. The B&D PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt replacement battery DOES NOT FIT out of the package into a DeWalt 952 drill/screwdriver. Just a heads up. BUT. both my 10 year old original DeWalt batteries had died). This review comment for the Black & Decker PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery) I cut a 1/16" x1/16" notch with a utility knife into the seating area on the DeWalt drill to accommodate the extra guide on the battery.(After insert adjustment, battery works fine in drill and a good price; I would have rated 5 except for the adjustment needed.
