The markings are clear and legible. I tried a few more times with the same result. But really, Stanley, use a label that comes off cleanly and easily. There's not much to judge on a device like this. The paper is peeling off in tiny pieces, and the adhesive is still stuck to the square. After a few minutes with a razor blade and goo-gone I'll have it off, and can use it happily ever after.
It's aluminum, so it shouldn't rust. It is indeed square (90 degree angle). But I'm giving it 3 stars due to the obnoxious label on it. It's 3" long and runs edge to edge on the long side. When I tried to peel it off, I only got a little bit of label.
Does what it's supposed to do. I think it's a must for any DIY inventory. Arrived square and still is to this day.
It is all you would expect a square to be. If not it's not square. When you get any square, lay it up against the edge of a countertop and strike a line, then flip it over so the leg is pointing the other way and strike another line next to the first line. are they EXACTLY the same/parallel.
The square was true when I got it, though I have no idea whether they all would be. I don't know if it will be as rugged as steel, but I do know I won't be sanding off surface rust. I also do not know if an aluminum square can be trued as a steel square can be. The square seems to stay cooler in the sun than steel.
Not much you can say about a carpenters square other than it does the intended job, arrived promptly and in good condition as described
