This one really does it's job well, after a short learning curve, you really see the difference in how fast it sharpers as well as how hard it is screw up a blade (compare to electic sharpener). I got this for my stepfather who has been using an electric sharpener on his crappy knives. I told him that if i gave him a real knife for his birthday i will also give jim a real sharpener. All you need in a bit of practice to sharper at a certain angle and 5-10 minutes of dedication per side.Really a great product He agreed.
Great tool - but if you are used to either electric, pass through or rod type sharpeners, it will take some getting used to.After learning how to use it correctly - it's great. Seriously sharp knives - you will find a whole new tool once your knives are truly sharp.
In the kitchen, its perfect because I never have to buy new knives, I can simply sharpen them and know that they will last longer. I can't believe I used to sharpen mt scissors and knives without one of those slide through sharpeners. Knowing that I wanted them to last, the DMT sharpener allows her to use them year after year without worries. I have been using DMT's sharpeners for years and can't find a better product out there. In the garden, my wife enjoys the sharp edge on her pruners when she sharpens them. These diamond sharpeners are great. About five years ago I bought her a pair of Felco pruners.
