The backing , when used with power sanders is tough enough to keep from damaging your pad if you should get a slight tear in it.Buy this Mirka brand. It is by far the best sandpaper that you can buy for the money. I can't say enough abouth this paper. The grit selections are uniform, and the paper backing lets you use the sandpaper far longer than ordinary generic types. You can pay more for a different brand, but why would you want to. This type of paper lasts as long as the project you are working on and if it wears down, hold onto to it for smaller tasks which don't require as much grit.

Long lasting,stiff backing,doesn't block up easily. Outlasts other brands at least 5:1 in custom cabinet shop. Wish this brand was available in 2" rolls,for Delta drum sander.
