Editorial Reviews:

This heavy duty Magnum® drill is built for industrial/construction applications. It features raw power with a Milwaukee built 5.5 amp motor, 0-850 rpm trigger speed control, reversing, and a Quik-Lok® cord that can be quickly removed from the drill for storage or service replacement. Another exclusive feature is the brush cartridge system, with a set of spare brushes, that allows you to change brushes in less than one minute. Use this tool with a variety of accessories to drill into wood, metal, plastics and composites.

User Comments about the Milwaukee 0234-6 Magnum 5.5 Amp 1/2-Inch Drill

If you're looking for a well built drill at a good price, this is it. It's made to work.

Considering the state of our economy it is gratifying to be able to purchase a fine piece of American engineering that is actually manufactured here. The variable speed trigger operates smoothly and the drill overall gives the impression of longevity common to products that have historically carried the Milwaukee nameplate since the days when it was a private company and not owned by a multinational. This drill is superior to others manufactured with the Milwaukee name plate only, in terms of power (though only 5.5 amp). and control.

It seems that Milwaukee Tools considers them both to be the same 1/2 inch drills, WITH DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBERS. So I have revoked my 1 star rating and gave this a 4 star. Guess Milwaukee's got their own way of doing things but it's confusing for the customer. I e-mailed Milwaukee Tools regarding the receipt of a model 0234-1 corded drill rather than the one adventised at Amazon.model 0234-6. Milwaukee said the drill I returned was manufactured in Nov. The confusion is really Milwaukee Tool's fault more than Amazon's. 2007 and that if it were refurbished, it would be marked on the tool as such.

I ended up really impressed. I had high expectations using this drill. I put it to the test, drilling a 1/2 inch hole through two plates of four hundred series stainless steel 3/8 inch plate in my steel work bench for mounting my vise. Glad i bought it from AMAZON.COM. That drill hogged right through, without lugging down at all.

Havent used this drill yet but am looking forward to putting it to work. I expect to have this drill for years I bought it because I only had cordless drills, aside from a great, rugged Milwaukee Hammer drill, was also confident because of great reviews from others, It is very solid and I like the quick change cord.
