fits good, works fairly well and might be a 5 star if I had a strong cyclone type vac
I also tried installing it upside down, but had the same problem. Hooked it to a shop vacuum and it works great. I also used weather stripping along the sides connecting to the tabs. Installation wasn't easy as the two upper bolt holes were way off. Since it is made of sheet metal I used a rattail file to elongate the holes. No loose dust at all. Eventually it installed.
The screw holes were a little off position, but it went together all right. The finish on this adapter is good. Considering the amount of shavings my jointer puts out, this item, and some kind of dust collector, are mandatory. There are two ways to install this, as other reviewers have noted. Also, the product description doesn't say that this adapter is made of steel, not plastic, which to me is a plus.
I elected to install mine so that the chute didn't extend below the tabletop. I don't know why the product has the little wings extending about 1.2 inch to each side, unless the designer wanted me to bend them down around the sides (another reviewer did that). The way the product is listed is confusing, because the jointer I have is the JT160, not the 37-070. Go figure.
Easy to install, works great with my dust collection system. It only extends below the jointer if you install it upside down.
The dust adapter works as described. What were they thinking. They fail to mention, however, that it extends below tabletop level somewhat, so the jointer must be placed at the edge of the bench so the adapter can hang over. This also makes it hard to store the jointer on a shelf, or the floor.
