Editorial Reviews:

The DELTA 31-695 6-Inch/9-Inch 1 HP Open Stand Belt/Disc Sander includes an adjustable 80-grit abrasive belt unit that operates vertically, horizontally, at an angle, or can be removed for contour sanding jobs. The sander is powered by a 1 HP, 120-volt induction motor, which runs a 9-inch disc sander that spins at 2,800 RPM. The 48-by-6-inch adjustable belt is kept in aligned by an easy-to-use belt tracking knob. It cycles at 2,200 square feet per minute across a graphite pad that reduces friction heat and preserves belt quality and life. The cast-aluminum worktable includes a miter gauge slot and tilts at 45 degrees for versatile surface work. The sander also includes a 2-1/4-inch dust port that connects to a standard shop vacuum and a steel stand with non-slip pads.

User Comments about the DELTA 31-695 6-Inch/9-Inch 1HP Open Stand Belt/Disc Sander

Item was recieved in a timely fashion at the estimated arrival time. Setup went well with no major issues. Although due to the winter season it has seen very limited use, it has performed as expected.

the delta sander assembled very easily and is doing an excellent job in our farm shop. we use it to smooth and fine tune fit of joints to be welded.

I probably got a lemon; my experience with Delta equipment has generally been positive.I called the Delta repair center: the repair cost would be $179 plus tax. The unit performs pretty well although the table is hard to adjust. For the price, I feel that it does as well as one can expect; however, 7 months after the warranty expired, the motor burned out. I gave up on it and ordered a different brand. I used it very little during the 2.6 years that I owned it; maybe twice a month for 10 min, so it's not as if it served a long distinguished career.

my work uses two of these sanders almost every day an average of at least 4 hours a day and they take the beating and keep on going

While dismantling the machine you will have to disconnect the power cord from the transformer in order to remove it from the base. While attaching the base to the stand, one of the attachment point cracked while bolting it to the legs. I have several Delta products but this one has my lowest rating. I called Delta to complain about the poor workmanship and they said they would replace the base. I should have known, Made in China. I said I needed to back charge them for dismantling and reconstructing this machine because it was new.
