Editorial Reviews:

Introduced in 1977 and completely revised in 1994, these bestselling photographic field guides have become the birding bibles of more than four million enthusiasts. Virtually every bird found in North America is brought to life in a full-color photograph and with textual information on the bird's voice, nesting habits, habitat, range, and interesting behaviors. Accompanying range maps; overhead flight silhouettes; sections on bird-watching, accidental species, and endangered birds make these the most comprehensive field guides to birds available.

Note: the Eastern Edition generally covers states east of the Rocky Mountains, while the Western Edition covers the Rocky Mountain range and all the states to the west of it.

User Comments about the National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds--E: Eastern Region - Revised Edition

Excellent source of information, and the pictures are wonderful. It is used often with our binoculars, birdfeeder, and trees.

I purchased this book as a gift for my husband who is a beginning bird watcher. Book is filled with color photos and sections divided by bird type which is very helpful. Very detailed yet easy to read. Great book to have for anyone interested in learning about the birds in their own yard.

I love these books. Very small and lightweight. I have found with field guides that it is always good to have more than one because they all lack information, but this is definitely a good one to have.

I would definitely recommend this to someone interested in identifying birds. I have had this book for years but only started using it when I moved to a house on a lake. I don't know how it compares to other bird books but it has worked out great for me identifying "duck-like" birds. Hope this was helpful. It is divided into sections with different types of birds ("duck-like" is one section) which makes it easy to navigate.

We just had to know the names of all the birds we see at the lake. This book is an excellent way to accomplish that.
