User Comments about the Clean House Clean Planet

I bought bottles and jars and measuring containers, etc, etc. I might revert to commercial toilet cleaners--but have switched to borax, and that seems to work. I would never, ever go back to store-bought bathtub scrub. I bought this book over the winter, but wasn't sure anything would work. And thought "this had better be worth it." I'm writing to say it is worth it. But Merlin's Magic, Alice's Wonder Spray, the scrub, are great. The mixtures you make are fantastic--sometimes better than anything you'd buy in a store.

This book is great. I love the reciepes and use them all the time.plus they actually work, some even better than over the counter scrubs.

When I want to know a recipe for a good floor cleaner I want to be able to just go to the front and look up "Floor cleaners" and see what page it's on and go there. I just want to know exactly where the recipe is. So I have to say that the organization of the book is a bit strange.I am not a very organized person so it looks like something that I would have arranged. It really is horrible what they sneak in there. I would want more professional arrangement. You get a whole chapter on what's in your store bought cleaners, why it's bad, and then the homemade recipe. I really do love the recipes given in this book.

The begining of the book tells you about all the scary chemicals that are in our everyday cleaning products and what harm they can do to you and/or your things. The whole book is very informative. Every one that i have tried has really worked. But like I said.great book, great info and great recipes. I also appreciate the honesty the the author uses when it comes to her rating system. The only complaint is that it isn't organized so well. It has helped me totaly change my cleaning habits.

Instead it is set up in like Chapters.

Clean Your House for Pennies a Day THE SAFE NON-TOXIC WAYFrom the back of the book:Save Your Health, Your Money, Your PlanetHow many times have you said you're killing yourself trying to keep your house clean. Karen Logan, an environmentalist with years of experience developing and selling her own line of eco-friendly cleaning products, reveals the secret of using simple, ordinary ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, soap, lemon juice, and salt to make safe, inexpensive cleaners. For instance, did you know:* Olive oil is not only good as a salad dressing but also as a furniture polish* Plain club soda works great as a window cleaner* You can make your copper-bottomed pots sparkle with just lemon juice and salt* And ordinary liquid soap and water will clean up those ants marching through your kitchen.Happy, healthy cleaning. You might have been joking, but you're closer to the truth than you think if you're using expensive commercial cleansers.

While the writer has great ideas of cleaning products that are harmful to use in the house and what they have in them, she uses old concepts that my grandmother used 50 years ago. This book is not original at all. This book is not really all that useful in my opinion when just basic baking soda and white vinegar have been a cleaning substance for many years.
