A superb visual reference to the principles of architecture Now including interactive CD-ROM! For more than thirty years, the beautifully illustrated Architecture: Form, Space, and Order has been the classic introduction to the basic vocabulary of architectural design. The updated Third Edition features expanded sections on circulation, light, views, and site context, along with new considerations of environmental factors, building codes, and contemporary examples of form, space, and order. This classic visual reference helps both students and practicing architects understand the basic vocabulary of architectural design by examining how form and space are ordered in the built environment.? Using his trademark meticulous drawing, Professor Ching shows the relationship between fundamental elements of architecture through the ages and across cultural boundaries. By looking at these seminal ideas, Architecture: Form, Space, and Order encourages the reader to look critically at the built environment and promotes a more evocative understanding of architecture. In addition to updates to content and many of the illustrations, this new edition includes a companion CD-ROM that brings the book's architectural concepts to life through three-dimensional models and animations created by Professor Ching.

A great reference book along with:A Visual Dictionary of ArchitectureThese two books are sort of the Elements and Principles for architecture, your tools and the manual of how to use them.Architecture:Form,Space,&Order is more instructional and covers architecture principals in the real world- The way geography and light affect architecture.Architecture:A Visual Dictionary is more about specific terms and elements- What types of masonry and arches look like. The interactive CD would be great for kids, or someone with patience who wants to know what's covered in the book. No promises were made, and it's a good resource beyond many books, so I have no complaints.Good book There are not reference images or anything on the disk other than the Flash Player files. It is not like a PDF version of the book, or a collection of images from the book.
I've had this book for a while now. Great book by a great author. It should be a staple for any young, budding architect and the principles contained within are examples of what make architecture different from engineering.
Item was delivered in perfect shape and in a decent amount of timeContents have helped in this last project a bunchGreat book
I can't believe how much cheaper I can find books online compared to what the college bookstores charge.
It was wrapped and in perfect condition. It's nice to look at and gives inspiration through the illustrations.
