I have not seen it since, but my high school students have. Yes, the author sounds a bit "self-rightous" at times, but it is humorous. Just copy his methods and not his persona. I am buying my second copy today. Any clean freak is bound to be a bit retentive.
I teach high school and years ago my copy was loaned to our consumer education instuctor. It is part of their curriculum for their "Independent Living" class. Face it, if our generation wasn't taught to clean very well, I can tell you that the kids coming up are clueless. I teach band, but I find myself teaching how to hang clothes 101 and beginning laundry skills.I digress.
Just a few weeks ago I was talking with someone at work who does clean her own house. Things have changed a lot since then--now I am lucky enough to have someone else clean my house. My house was never so clean. When I used "speed cleaning" I used the method faithfully, apron and all. I have a copy of this book from 1987. She was frustrated about how much time it takes and how you never feel that the whole house is "done". It really is a great method and does save time. I told her about speed-cleaning which I used years ago and was happy to see the book is still in print.
The book describes a pretty good cleaning methodology. It seems a little out-dated as far as some of the equipment goes, but that is about the only complaint I have.
My mom didn't teach us the art of housecleaning - at least not in an organized time saving manner. I will say, that after reading each chapter, I was inspired to jump up and clean. I will agree with some of the others that have left feedback - The author is a bit on the bossy side - but that said, the book has great advice on cleaning quickly. I was left with many ideas that helped to speed up my weekly cleaning.
Wonderful. The book explains in a very detailed way room-by-room how to clean your house efficiently and faster. I got the book yesterday, and started using his methods today, and I was able to clean my whole house in an hour (it used to take me 4 or 5 hours) and it looks sparkling. I recommend this book to people that like to see their house clean but don't have the time to do it.
